Following up on an electrical quote when the project is postponed
Rewiring is often postponed to fit around other work. Agree on when the walls will be open, so the electrical work happens at the right moment.

Agree on when to pick it up again
Channel: EmailEmailSubject: When shall we pick up your electrical work?
Hi [First name], Thanks for your message: your electrical work is on hold, noted. It happens, and it's better to start at the right time. So I don't lose track: roughly when would you like to pick it up again? I'll make a note and get back to you a few weeks before, so we can plan a start date without a rush. For reference, the prices in your quote are valid until [date]. After that, I'll update them if they've moved. [Your name] [Company]
Text messageHi [First name], it's [Your name] from [Company]. Noted that your electrical work is on hold, no problem. Roughly when would you like to pick it up again? I'll get back to you a few weeks before.

Keep in touch, lightly
Channel: TextEmailSubject: Your file is still open
Hi [First name], No rush on your electrical work: I'm keeping your file open on my side. If anything has changed (timing, budget, what you'd like done), tell me and I'll adjust the quote ahead of time. That way, we'll be ready when the moment comes. [Your name] [Company]
Text messageHi [First name], it's [Your name] from [Company]. No rush on your electrical work, I'm just keeping your file up to date. Has the timing changed on your side? If anything moves, reply here.

Plan the work
Channel: Call, or emailEmailSubject: Planning your electrical work
Hi [First name], You mentioned picking up your electrical work around [period], so I'm getting back to you as promised. If it's still the plan, I'll check the figures (prices may have moved since [date]) and suggest a start date. Would a quick call this week work to confirm the details? If the timing has changed again, just tell me when to get back to you. [Your name] [Company]
Text messageHi [First name], it's [Your name] from [Company]. As promised, I'm getting back to you about your electrical work. Is [period] still the plan? If so, I'll update the figures and suggest a start date.
What’s going on, and how to respond
A postponed project isn’t a lost one. The risk is that nobody remembers it when the time comes, and the client asks someone else for a new quote. The fix: agree on a date, keep in touch lightly, and get back to them before they start looking again.
Three things to keep in mind
- Ask for a period, even a rough one (“spring”, “after the holidays”), and write it down right away.
- Don’t follow up every week: one light message in between is enough.
- Get back to them a month before the new date, so the work can be planned without a rush.
Tailor these messages
Add the client’s name, your company and the project, and adjust the timing: you get the message to send now, and the rest of the sequence.
Your messages will appear here.
Fill in the form: you’ll get an email and a text to send now, and the next follow-ups to plan.
